Teaching

I have taught a range of applied linguistics and TEFL courses, from the introductory to the Master’s level, both online and face-to-face. My courses address much needed aspects of teaching in linguistically diverse classrooms, and include aspects from the fields of sociolinguistics, multilingualism, English as a lingua franca, and inclusion and equity in education. In my teaching, students gain a sense of their own and other’s multilingualism and learn how to use it as a resource in the teaching of English. I model the theories of learning that I promote. Drawing on my own research and international experience, I provide students with authentic examples of applied linguistic challenges and lead them toward research-led solutions. I also draw on the affordances of relevant digital technologies and support students in making decisions about how and why to make use of these technologies in their teaching.
